After spending 11 years in one church, you form a lot of strong relationships with people. So with the recent visits from Steve, Jim & Jackie...I've been wondering when I will be able to visit FVCC to see some other friends and check in on the church. It will be good to see everybody again; however, I'm sure it will be strange to go as a visitor rather than a staff member.
I'm thinking about either Thanksgiving weekend or Christmas Eve services. I'll let you know...

In Acts 17 the Apostle Paul is in Athens at a meeting place called the Areopagus - the gathering place for all those interested in "talking about and listening to the latest ideas." I have mused for some time that coffeehouses are the new Areopagus. The coffeehouse environment seems to encourage people to be more open with their hearts and their thoughts. About Me
- Chris Genders
- I am a staff member at Great Oaks Community Church in Germantown Hills, IL. An avid student of leadership and organizational development, I have just recently joined the staff of GOCC to lead and develop their adult small group program. I will also have the opportunity to serve as one of the teaching pastors during the weekend services. I have earned a B.S. in Business from Eastern Illinois University in 1996 and an M.A. in Leadership from Lincoln Christian Seminary in 2004. My wife, Karen, and I have been married for 12 years. We have two children, Ethan and Morgan. In addition to reading and spending time with my family, I enjoy backpacking, camping, whitewater rafting, and many other outdoor activities. My favorite activity at this time is taking my kids for nature walks whenever possible.

I think 11/16 for "evening of celebration" would be even better. Of course I'm a little biased. ;-)
I had thought of that...I just forgot to include it in the blog. We'll see...
