I found my local coffeeshop! It's called "The Blend", and it just opened today in Washington.
They've got a great atmosphere - contemporary design and color; tables, booths, and couches; free wi-fi; and an assortment of books to peruse. And I love their tag-line: where coffee and community come together.
I can't wait to settle in for a couple of hours with the laptop and a good book!

In Acts 17 the Apostle Paul is in Athens at a meeting place called the Areopagus - the gathering place for all those interested in "talking about and listening to the latest ideas." I have mused for some time that coffeehouses are the new Areopagus. The coffeehouse environment seems to encourage people to be more open with their hearts and their thoughts. This blog is an attempt to capture that environment to share my reflections on faith, family, life, and leadership. ::Chris Genders::

About Me
- Chris Genders
- I am a staff member at Great Oaks Community Church in Germantown Hills, IL. An avid student of leadership and organizational development, I have just recently joined the staff of GOCC to lead and develop their adult small group program. I will also have the opportunity to serve as one of the teaching pastors during the weekend services. I have earned a B.S. in Business from Eastern Illinois University in 1996 and an M.A. in Leadership from Lincoln Christian Seminary in 2004. My wife, Karen, and I have been married for 12 years. We have two children, Ethan and Morgan. In addition to reading and spending time with my family, I enjoy backpacking, camping, whitewater rafting, and many other outdoor activities. My favorite activity at this time is taking my kids for nature walks whenever possible.

Further proof that you have completely moved into our lives in Woodford County, Yvonne Andresen the co-owner of the Blend coffeeshop, is an old friend of ours. We house-sat, baby sat for her kids once for a week. We've lost track of her over time because of email changes etc and I don't think they attend at WCC anymore. Way to funny. If you get a chance, say hey to Yvonne for us (you are becoming our personal messenger) we were just thinking of her the other day, no kidding. She really is a terrifically hospitable.
